FESTIVAL 2026 OPPORTUNITIES

A limited number of mausoleums are available for participants to build traditional ofrendas in honor of loved ones who have passed. Altars are one of the most visited parts of the festival, and each one becomes part of how our community remembers together.

How to participate

• Participation is free.
• Spaces are limited and assigned in the order applications are received. Submitting an application does not guarantee a space.
• Our team reviews each application and will contact you about altar guidelines, materials, and setup logistics.
• Applications close October 15th, or earlier if all spaces are filled.

Please note: Historic Oakland is a historic site. Open flame, adhesives, nails, and anything that could mark or damage the structures are not permitted. Full guidelines are shared with accepted participants.

ALTAR SUBMISSION FORM 2026

We are accepting applications from food vendors and artisans who want to share their work with a diverse audience of roughly 15,000 visitors.

Food vendors — traditional Mexican cuisine, regional specialties, antojitos, pan dulce, aguas frescas, and festival fare.

Artisan vendors — handmade crafts, folk art, textiles, jewelry, clothing, and cultural goods.

Booth fees

• Payment is due upon acceptance and confirms your space.

Dates and deadlines

• Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
• Applications close October15th. Spaces are limited and often fill before the deadline.
• Load-in details, booth assignments, and parking instructions are sent to confirmed vendors ahead of the event.

Requirements for all vendors

All vendors operate on City of Atlanta property and are responsible for complying with applicable regulations and laws. By participating, vendors assume full responsibility for their operation.

Additional requirements for vendors cooking on site

• Food trucks must be permitted with the Atlanta Fire Rescue Department.
• Vendors cooking under a tent must have at minimum an ABC fire extinguisher on site.
• Vendors deep frying must have a Class K fire extinguisher.
• All propane must be secured so it cannot tip over.
• Cooking vendors must maintain 10 feet of clearance from other vendors unless arranged in advance.

How to participate

• Come dressed in your best Catrín or Catrina attire on the day of the event.
• Register at a contest table on site to receive your entry number. No advance registration needed.
• Take the stage, where the audience and our judges cast their votes.

Prizes are awarded for the most stunning, the most creative, and the most traditional looks.

Inspired by La Catrina, the iconic figure created by José Guadalupe Posada, the contest celebrates elegance, remembrance, and the beauty of life. Classic or with a twist — let your outfit shine.
